A Year in the Making, day 349

Back from a Baltimore, where we celebrated a family wedding, which is why I haven't been around lately. I traveled light, and left the laptop at home this time. I did bring the camera, of course!

We flew Airtran, and had a delightfully uneventful flight. It was nonstop from Seattle to Baltimore - how can you beat that?

The groomsmen wore kilts. Rawr!

It was pointed out on more than one occasion that my husband and his siblings have now all gone and married redheads:

The husband was strongly encouraged to treat himself to a new fedora. Again with the rawr:

And the munchkin got to spend lots of quality time with her uncle and grandpa:

Yesterday, before we left, we spent a few hours wandering around the Fells Point area, one of our favorite spots in Baltimore. Lunch was steamed mussels, crab dip, and chowder at Shuckers:

And then wandered around sightseeing for the rest of the afternoon:

Back to work tomorrow, with the end of summer and the start of 1st grade looming huge on the not so distant horizon.

A Year in the Making, day 336

Today, we spent a good portion of the day at the Seattle Scottish Highland Games. We caught several of the games competitions, as well as a performance by the Seattle Knights.

The weather was absolutely divine - low 70s, and overcast till about 3pm, so there was no danger of overheating. If only the weather will hold through next weekend, and the Washington Midsummer Renaissance Festival. *fingers crossed*

It was a bit cool, but I broke out some summer finery, my hand-tatted barefoot sandals by TotusMel on Etsy.

We got to watch the hammer toss:

And the caber toss:

That gent in the right corner of that shot, with his arms raised? He got the flip all three times he tossed. It was a sight to see!

The munchkin defended us from a pirate:

There were shaggy ponies, oops, I mean Irish Wolfhounds!

(There were actually real shaggy ponies too.)

And there were kilts. Ooooh, were there kilts!

We came home, fired up the grill, and stuffed ourselves on cheeseburgers and corn on the cob, and I'm now in my regular spot on the sofa, listening to The Swing Years on NPR and indulging in some blood orange soda. Have I mentioned lately that life is good?

One little old necklace for the evening:
