A day at the zoo
We spent this morning at the Woodland Park Zoo. It started out looking to be a typical gloomy Seattle spring day, but the sunlight surprised us.

The animals were out and about and being all photogenic, so how could I refuse them?
We started with the komodo dragons. There's a wonderful statue outside the exhibit.

And then, of course, the real thing:

There was meercuteness:

And we were delighted by the new wolves, a pack of four sisters:

The grizzlies were sunbathing:

As were the snow leopards:

Ended the tour with the flamingos:

Then we had super tasty bbq for lunch here:

This place is on Stone Way, just up from the intersection at 34th. I highly recommend it. Creamy dreamy mac & cheese, and their beef brisket was superb. If you aren't completely stuffed to bloating, have a blondie too.

Another day at Emerald City ComiCon
We made our pilgrimage to our local geekly Mecca today. Many good things were seen.

Spidey shot the husband with webbing, then had a little disagreement with another costumed attendee:

I got some bunny love:

The Vorlons sent an ambassador:

The husband and the munchkin had mechwars over their pizza:

And the munchkin defended Chewbacca against a nasty Tusken Raider:

I made a new friend in my crusade for Robots' Rights!

And we came home and relaxed to good food and tasty beverages:

The rest of the photo set is here
Can't wait to see what next year will bring!

A Year in the Making, day 357
I will clean tonight. I will. Really!
I'm using my personal day tomorrow for my birthday, and it'd be nice to not spend the whole day cleaning. I'm thinking I should go see a movie, at least.
I just got my vendors' packet for the Medieval Country Faire two weekends from now, at Volunteer Park in the Capitol Hill neighborhood of Seattle. The Seattle Knights will be there, which is always a treat!

I'll be spending a good portion of my free time next week making sure I've got everything tagged. I always say I'm going to price everything as I post it, but I never do. Silly me.
I got the fancy necklace finished a little bit ago, and would have made this post earlier, but I got sucked into Facebook and an hour went *poof*! Such a marvelous tool, the internet, but such an easy way to waste time too.

And the pieces from yesterday are now photographed and up in my Artfire shop as well:

Sterling Dragonfly Necklace with Rose Quartz and Garnet

A Year in the Making, day 253
Day one of busy weekend. Today, I rousted the family out of bed (husband) and away from the Saturday morning cartoons (munchkin), and we headed up to Seattle for the University Street Fair. After we had our respective toasty beverages, a double short latte for the husband, a chai for myself, and a hot chocolate for mini-me, we wandered up and down University Avenue to see the sights. We got there as it was just getting started, and not everyone was completely set up yet, but we also avoided the crowds and got a parking space just two blocks over, so it was a good trade-off.
There are a few pictures posted to my flickr photo album here, but the favorites went to my deviantart account.
My favorites we didn't actually see at the fair itself, but on the side road where we were parked. There was a wonderful flowering bushy plant:

And there was an old beat up fire hydrant:

At the fair, there was a booth filled with more of the metal flowers made from recycled metal signs and cars:

Unfortunately, he couldn't find his business cards, and I can't match him up with any of the vendors listed on the fair's site.
We had to check out the vendors at the farmers' market, and I finally got a shot of the water tanks that catch the rainwater off the top of the University Heights center:

I also happened to snag a shot of Gasworks park on the way home:

And now we're home, and the husband has mowed the back yard, and we have some wild-caught fresh ahi tuna steaks for the grill, and I also managed to make a new necklace and a batch of blackberry jam:
